We're very pleased to announce that the first winner of the DGMail competition is James Covais of MCR Oil Tools. CONGRATULATIONS - a framed autographed photograph of Matt Schaub will be sent to you soon.
So it's a new month, which means a NEW COMPETITION! Up for grabs is an iPod Shuffle and an iTunes Gift Card.
So this month's question is.....
What hazard label needs to be affixed to a motor car which has not crated?
TSA NEWS
Is your company prepared for the August TSA screening regulations?
In August of '97 congress mandated legislation which will require 100% of cargo to be security screened prior to being loaded onto a passenger aircraft, many companies have opted to become CCSF (Certified Cargo Screening Facility), and although not essential, industry is concerned that there will be significant carrier delays, cargo backlogs and an increase in transit times, potentially leading to some pretty disgruntled clients!
The TSA have a Certified Cargo Screening Facilities (CCSF) endorsement program for: -
Shipping Facilities, Manufacturing Facilities, Third Party Logistic companies, Warehouse / Distribution Facilities, Freight Forwarders, or Independent Screening Facilities, all of whom can apply to be become a CCSF. If you'd like more information on this process, please contact me.
There are also exemptions for hazmat cargo, so if you'd like this information, please forward your questions to DGMail@dgm-usa.com

Challenges of the global economy
“These are interesting times” we are hearing this more and more often, but is this a curse or an opportunity?
We are all going to have to work, harder, smarter, to meet the coming challenges of the global economic climate!

Companies are reassessing costs report and they've realized retention of their skilled employees rather than retrenching, is a lesson they learnt from the last dip in the economy.
So perhaps it is time to reconsider your own skills? Do you have the training and requirements you need to move your hazmat shipments, effectively and efficiently? Our complete training schedule is online at www.dgm-usa.com or contact Kerry at training@dgm-usa.com
The world is changing at a very fast pace, we need to keep up with these changes and trends. Who would ever have dreamt that pirates would affect our routing of shipping?
We certainly are living in interesting times... very interesting time, without a shadow of a doubt.
IN LOVING MEMORY
It is with a very heavy heart, that DGM lost a close friend and family member. Wendy Lynn Snipes, loving wife of Lyle (Snipes Delivery Services) and mother to Shannon Sawyer (DGM Accounts Department) lost her brave fight with cancer on the 27th February.
At the time of Wendy's diagnosis, Wendy and Lyle unfortunately did not have any health insurance, therefore their medical bills have gone through the roof. A Benefit in Wendy's honor will be held on Sunday April 5, 2009 to help absorb some of the medical bills and burial costs.
For more information about the Benefit, or any donations that your company may be able to make to a silent auction please contact Shannon at shannons@dgm-usa.com

Regulation Changes for 2009
With all the changes to the new editions of the IATA DGR and the IMDG Code, we are frequently being asked for copies of the new handling labels, and what changes could potentially effect the day to day operation of handling dangerous goods.
It is imperative that your organization has the latest editions of the regulations to avoid any delays in shipments and costly fines for not adhering to the latest regulations.
If you'd like more information about the publications, click on the logo to be taken to our on-line store, or alternatively contact Kerry on publications@dgm-usa.com

Lithium Batteries
IATA has put together a “Guidance Document for the Transport of Lithium Metal and Lithium Ion Batteries”. The purpose of the document is to provide guidance for complying with the provisions applicable to the transport by air of lithium batteries that took effect from the beginning of this year, as set out in the current edition of the IATA DGR.
The document breaks down the regulations, definitions, classifications, and packing provisions. The document has a useful flow chart which is can be used in determining Shipping Requirements.
